אלף ALF משפחת טאנר היא משפחה אמריקאית ממוצעת. יום אחד הם מגלים שיש להם אורח. הוא קטן פרוותי שחצן והוא חיזר מהכוכב מלמק. בצעד של חוסר ביטחון מה לעשות הלאה הם קוראים לו אלף. אלף מיד מחליט שלמרות שהוא מתגעגע לכוכב המולדת שלו ישנם המון מסרים להעביר לכדור הארץ. משפחת טאנר מוכנים להתפשר על הכל כל עוד הוא לא יצהיר על נוכחותו. ולמשפחת טאנר יש גם חתול שנראה די טעים…
